In March 2021 the Rural Poor Stimulus Facility (RPSF) programme titled Building Covid-19 Resilient Farming Systems” worth USD 1,554, 689 was launched. The objective of the project is to create COVID-19 resilient and robust smallholder farming systems in SIRP operational areas (Manicaland, Matsouth, Midlands and Masvingo).  The facility is meant to cushion farmers from the effects of Covid 19 and help them build back their livelihoods.

The project provides crop and livestock inputs while also seeking to improve access to markets as well as provision of nutrition education.

In addition to this basic PPE, hygiene equipment to prevent spread of COVID 19 is provided through training of farmers groups in the production of sanitizers and masks. Inputs have been distributed to 4,895 farmers against a target of 7,000.

We are very happy with inputs that we have received we can now go into back into production. This will really reduce the impact of COVID on us said farmers from Rupangwana scheme
