Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Dr John Basera visited five irrigation schemes in Midlands and Masvingo. Dr Basera  emphasised the need for sustainability in the schemes and the importance of growing high value crops in the schemes. He also urged farmers to take extreme ownership  of the scheme by ensuring they have a fund to future repairs to the infrastructure and other expenses.
